10 WAYS TO PRAY FOR PERSECUTED CHRISTIANS

PRAY THAT THEY WILL SENSE GOD'S PRESENCE

Hebrews 13:5 NRSV

Keep your lives free from the love of money, and be content with what you have; for he has said, “I will never leave you or forsake you.”

PRAY THAT THEY WILL KNOW THE GREATER BODY OF CHRIST IS PRAYING FOR THEM

2 Timothy 1:3 NRSV

I am grateful to God—whom I worship with a clear conscience, as my ancestors did—when I remember you constantly in my prayers night and day.

PRAY THAT THEY WILL EXPERIENCE GOD'S COMFORT WHEN PERSECUTED

2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 NRSV

Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and through grace gave us eternal comfort and good hope, comfort your hearts and strengthen them in every good work and word.

PRAY THAT THEY WILL SEE GOD OPEN DOORS TO EVANGELISM

Colossians 4:3 NRSV

At the same time pray for us as well that God will open to us a door for the word, that we may declare the mystery of Christ . . .

PRAY THAT THEY WILL BOLDLY SHARE THE GOSPEL

Acts 4:29 NRSV

And now, Lord, look at their threats, and grant to your servants to speak your word with all boldness

PRAY THAT THEY WILL FORGIVE AND LOVE THEIR PERSECUTORS

Matthew 5:44 NRSV

But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you . . .

PRAY THAT THEY WILL BE GRANTED WISDOM IN COVERT MINISTRY WORK

Acts 9:23-25 NRSV

After some time had passed, the Jews plotted to kill [Paul], but their plot became known to Paul. They were watching the gates day and night so that they might kill him; but his disciples took him by night and let him down through an opening in the wall, lowering him in a basket.

PRAY THAT THEY WILL REMAIN JOYFUL AMID SUFFERING

Acts 5:41 NRSV

As they left the council, they rejoiced that they were considered worthy to suffer dishonor for the sake of the name.

PRAY THAT THEY WILL MATURE IN THEIR FAITH

Colossians 1:28-29 NRSV

It is he whom we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone in all wisdom, so that we may present everyone mature in Christ.  For this I toil and struggle with all the energy that he powerfully inspires within me.

PRAY THAT THEY WILL BE ROOTED IN GOD'S WORD

2 Timothy 3:16-17 NRSV

All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that everyone who belongs to God may be proficient, equipped for every good work.
